As I painted Fading into Light, I found myself letting go of the details and simply following the feeling the flowers were giving me. I wasn't trying to capture a perfect peony, but rather the quiet way a bloom seems to appear and disappear in the changing light. There is something so beautiful about that fleeting moment when the edges soften and all that remains is a gentle impression.

For me, this painting became less about the flowers themselves and more about the atmosphere surrounding them. Layers of soft whites, blush pinks, and muted grays were built slowly, allowing the petals to emerge almost like a memory. I wanted the composition to feel peaceful, airy, and timeless—a quiet place for the eye to rest.
