Softly explores the quiet beauty of movement—the moment when a figure seems to pause while everything around her continues to move. Her wind-swept hair, loose charcoal lines, and softly layered acrylic create a sense of motion that feels spontaneous and effortless.

Working in charcoal and acrylic, I allowed the drawing to remain visible rather than hiding every line beneath paint. The expressive charcoal marks give the piece its energy and movement, while translucent washes of color bring warmth and softness to the figure. The contrast between the gestural drawing and delicate layers of acrylic creates a feeling that is both unfinished and complete.

I was drawn to the idea of capturing a fleeting moment rather than a posed figure—the turn of her head, the movement of her hair, and the quiet confidence of simply being present.

Softly is part of my exploration into contemporary figurative work, where gesture, line, and color come together to tell a story without saying too much.
