Open explores the quiet strength of a woman caught in a moment of movement and reflection. Her face turns toward the light as loose charcoal lines carry the movement of her hair and flowing fabric around her. There is a sense of openness in the figure—not a dramatic gesture, but a natural moment of simply being present.

Working with charcoal and acrylic, I allowed the expressive drawing to remain an important part of the finished work. The delicate charcoal marks give the figure movement and spontaneity, while softly layered acrylic brings warmth and subtle color to the skin. Areas of the canvas are intentionally left open, allowing the white space and unfinished lines to become part of the composition.

This piece reflects my continuing exploration of figurative work, gesture, movement, and the expressive beauty of line. I am drawn to the balance between what is defined and what is suggested—the feeling that a figure can emerge through just a few lines and washes of color.
